Tech Tip: Canvas Mobile App

The mobile Canvas app is rarely used, but when I do need it, it's a lifesaver. I take my phone everywhere, and as such, I can quickly check messages that a professor or TA has sent, check the syllabus of a class I'm in to make sure I'm not missing an assignment, or in a real emergency when my laptop has died, I can use it to take a quiz that's being administered through Canvas. It's convenient and handy! But also not something I use regularly. If you have space on your phone to install it, I would say do it. There's no big losses in having notifications from your classes.

    Hi Smith,

    Usually I comment on stories but this week we had the option of commenting on other posts. I thought I'd give it a shot. I too use the Canvas app to check grades or syllabi. I did not know that quizzes on Canvas could be taken through the app though. I imagine it might be difficult to take the quizzes on an app, but in an emergency, you gotta do what you gotta do. Thanks for sharing!

Hello, It's Me, Smith T

My name is Smith. I know your first question: "What?? That's your first name?" 99.3% of people I've met have had this exact same conversation with me. I believe this is how the story goes: I was born in Bangkok, Thailand in July 1997. My mother is a native Thai, and my father is from Burma (which I believe is now called Myanmar). They had set their minds and their hearts to go the US eventually to make sure their kids had a good education and a better opportunity at a good life. Thus, to make sure I fit in, they looked up the most common English names. Unfortunately, the one they found happened to be a last name. And so, to this day, I have never met another man named Smith. Week 11 Story: Choraya's Diary

Choraya's Diary, Entry 1, Tula 12: Oh, how I've waited for tomorrow - the day of my marriage! The harvest is over, the weather is cooling, and I finally get to be married to the woman of my dreams. She is beautiful as the lilies, and as radiant as the stars. How lucky am I to be joined to her for the rest of my life. I cannot wait!!
