Growth Mindset: N.O.W.

The best thing to spur growth is to take every opportunity as a chance to improve. Even if there's only a little growth, the accumulation from hundreds and thousands of used opportunities results in an end product that will be monumentally different from what was initially there.


Take every moment, every situation, every circumstance - use them N.O.W.

Hello, It's Me, Smith T

My name is Smith. I know your first question: "What?? That's your first name?" 99.3% of people I've met have had this exact same conversation with me. I believe this is how the story goes: I was born in Bangkok, Thailand in July 1997. My mother is a native Thai, and my father is from Burma (which I believe is now called Myanmar). They had set their minds and their hearts to go the US eventually to make sure their kids had a good education and a better opportunity at a good life. Thus, to make sure I fit in, they looked up the most common English names. Unfortunately, the one they found happened to be a last name. And so, to this day, I have never met another man named Smith. Here's a picture of my parents, taken on a trip back to Thailand last summer. They're pretty cool people: (Surat Thani, Thailand) Fun fact, though: Martin van Buren's (the eighth US president's) youngest son was named Smith! So indirectly, I guess I'm pretty famous, tho

Week 11 Story: Choraya's Diary

Choraya's Diary, Entry 1, Tula 12: Oh, how I've waited for tomorrow - the day of my marriage! The harvest is over, the weather is cooling, and I finally get to be married to the woman of my dreams. She is beautiful as the lilies, and as radiant as the stars. How lucky am I to be joined to her for the rest of my life. I cannot wait!! Maybe twenty years from now, I can present this diary to our children, as a memento and record of the beginning of our lives together. Kushi is actually with child, though her parents and I are the only ones who know. We even have a name! Roshanee, the light of our worlds. The location - the city of Kurukshetra, which she believes is blessed by the gods, so that blessing will transfer into our marriage. I certainly hope so, too.
